AN INVITATION FOR NEW STUDENTS
The RCHS Peer Mentoring program aims to support new students by providing them with opportunities to meet new people, make new friends, and learn more about the school from select RCHS upperclassmen called Peer Mentors. Although the program is optional, the benefits for new students who participate in the program include: having lunch on the first day with a great group of freshmen and upperclassmen, learning more about clubs, activities and traditions at RCHS, and getting questions—on anything from homework to basketball games to Flex Days—answered by informed and caring upperclassmen.

New students for 2010-2011:

Sign up by emailing Ms. Joseph at ajoseph@raleighcharterhs.org  with the following information:

Student Name
Grade during 2010-2011
Phone Number
Student Email Address
Student Interests (Please name two or three— e.g. soccer, singing, art, comics, etc.)

Thank you!

CAN YOU HELP?

EVERY DAY IN MAY, VOTE SOOTS FOR $5K
SOOTS (Sustaining Roots Music Community Project) is in the running for a $5,000 grant from PepsiCo. In order to win the grant, we need your vote every day. Let's exercise our civiCulture for the world to see. This grant will allow SOOTS to fund more medical mini-grants to aging blues musicians and enable RCHS to introduce more Piedmont Blues musicians to our students and the greater Triangle community.

Simply sign in via:
www.refresheverything.com/soots
to see SOOTS at work and join the fun. You'll find photos of SOOTS' events, our proposal in its entirety and a short documentary filmed to sustain our cause. We are proud of our work and your support.

SOOTS will also send the RCHS community a weekly email reminder along with a link to our weekly slideshow and live recording on
www.sootsblues.org

Please forward the message to friends and family. When you support SOOTS you support RCHS. You can vote every day to help build a more perfect world in a small but significant way.

Let's show the strength of the RCHS community! Support SOOTS with YOUR VOTE.
Charles Montague, SOOTS Founder and Faculty Sponsor
cmontague@raleighcharterhs.org

SPRING CLEAN THAT QUILTING FABRIC
Please donate any scraps or yardage of cotton material to the community work group for next year. We will make another beautiful quilt for a disabled U.S. Veteran. We prefer calicoes, but any kind of woven (not knit) cotton cloth is accepted. The material can be brought to me in Room 306 anytime before or after school.
