PASTA
The Parent, Administrator, Student, Teacher Association (PASTA) of Raleigh Charter High School was formed to support the teachers, staff, and students and to encourage active parent participation by providing meaningful ways for parents to support the mission and goals of the school—stated in the original charter application. PASTA is always looking for ways to enhance the high school experience. Please join, be active and supportive, and share new ideas. Every family is encouraged to join with a membership fee of $15.
Our goal is to have 100% of our families join because 100% of our students directly benefit from PASTA’s efforts!
Contact Membership Chair: Mary Lawrence Stroud at mls211707@aol.com to join.
PASTA is organized into committees that report to the executive officers. These committees are responsible for communications, academic support, volunteer coordination, fund raising, and building and grounds.

PASTA makes communications at RCHS happen smoothly:
  • A weekly electronic newsletter is sent to all who subscribe.
  • It is also posted on the Raleigh Charter Website www.raleighcharterhs.org, and directions for subscribing are given at the end of the our newsletter the Phoenix News.
  • Reading the RCHS newsletter is a must for all parents!
  • The RCHS School Directory is published electronically each year as soon as possible after the school year begins.
  • Visit PASTA's Website at www.rchspasta.org.
  • There is a link to our Web page on the RCHS Webpage also.
  • You will want to bookmark both sites for ready reference to all things concerning RCHS.
PASTA maintains a volunteer database, used by faculty, staff and other volunteers, to coordinate programs such as: Building and grounds work days Flex Day transportation and staffing, Test proctors, Teacher appreciation activities, Book sale at the beginning of the year, An after-school Friday student social at the beginning of the year, and a Reception for seniors and their guests at graduation.
Volunteer opportunities will be announced in the RCHS newsletter and on this Website. All parents are encouraged to let our vice presidents for volunteers, Pat Close and Gene Condon, know of their interests, skills, and availability.
The Buildings and Grounds committees have done it all—furnishing and maintaining our campus! They continue to be on the look-out for more and better items for the school, as well as help coordinate car pool connections and parking permits. Clean-up days are scheduled throughout the year to handle maintenance and cleaning jobs that are beyond daily routines. Clean-up days are a great way to meet other parents and learn your way around the school.
One of the most ambitious efforts of PASTA is academic support—funding requests that supplement RCHS’s budget: Technology needs: purchasing network servers, computers, digital cameras, CD burners, NCWISE software (required by the state for attendance record keeping), and projection screens for every classroom Opportunities for cultural arts experiences, bringing performing artists to the classrooms and making attendance at other performance venues possible Hardware and furniture in the Foreign Language Lab. Reference books, video series, maps, and scientific equipment for teacher and student use. Supporting student publications and various competitions.
All of the activities of PASTA depend on fund raising. PASTA membership, the PASTA Pot, and parking permits for students are our primary fundraising activities. The PASTA Pot is promoted in the fall and is a simple request to contribute, with opportunities for employer matches. Donate here! There are other, smaller opportunities throughout the year. Our goal is to have every family contribute to the PASTA Pot —no donation is too small or too large! Ultimately, all our students benefit!
