Welcome Back to a New Musical Year
Welcome back instrumentalists and singers! Be sure to come by and see me on Wednesday, August 11. Normal class schedules begin on Thursday, August 12. If you are new to RCHS music classes, be sure to purchase the theory textbook: Alfred's Essentials of Music Theory Complete. I look forward to a great year of music making!

RCHS Band
Do not bring your instruments to school on Thursday. If you are new to Band this year, be sure that you and your parents have looked at the Smart Music website: www.smartmusic.com. We will be using this software for our playing tests and home practice. Below you will find two links that will help in your process of securing Smart Music for your home computer.

The first choral state event is the auditions for NC Honors Chorus. Below you will find the link for an information page on this event. If you are in Women's Ensemble or Mixed Ensemble, you are eligible to work towards these auditions. The NC Honors Chorus is the highest choral group in the state and is comprised of singers from across the state. Our initial meeting at RCHS will be at lunch on Tuesday, August 17th. You must be present at this meeting if you wish to secure one of the RCHS audition slots. For now, order your music, download the accompaniment files and practice!

Sightreading is an important skill that should be practiced each day by all musicians. The link that I have listed is an excellent source for sightreading for both instrumentalists and singers.
