Teachers must hold a NC teaching license or be otherwise NCLB highly qualified. In order to be considered “highly qualified” by the standards of No Child Left Behind, a teacher must exhibit one of the following:

• A major in the subject taught
• 24 semester hours in the subject taught
• A master’s degree in the subject
• Passing scores on the subject examination for PRAXIS II
