  • Diversity: A diverse community includes members from a variety of ethnic, racial, religious, geographic and economic backgrounds.

Who Are We?

Raleigh Charter High School is committed to creating a school environment which is culturally rich and reflective of the community in which our students, faculty, and staff live. The RCHS Diversity Initiative Committee, which is composed of faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and board members, seeks to increase the diversity of our student body and faculty. Committee members include faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni and board members. We believe that our efforts will broaden our range of talents and experiences and strengthen the quality of our academic program.

The Diversity Initiative Committee:

• Is involved recruitment efforts for new applicants. We are a Charter School with open enrollment by lottery (determined by state law). Our student body will reflect our applicant pool. We encourage applications from ALL students who are interested in a college preparatory high school experience.

• Seeks to maintain a school culture that includes an appreciation of differences and a respectful learning experience for all students.

• Acts as a resource for networking, education and public relations.

Are There More Special Features?

• Clubs provide many opportunities for students to express their interests and opinions in a supportive atmosphere. Clubs meet during lunch and after school. The Melting Pot is one student led group which addresses diversity issues. Student Clubs

• Flex Day and Citizenship Days are key innovations of RCHS, and allow teachers and students to explore topics which address diversity issues, including visits to houses of worship, Civil Rights exercises, Spanish immersion programs, community service and tutoring activities. We believe that students learn more when they are active, social, and creative learners.

• We also offer a unique curricula including courses in Minority and Women’s Studies, Modern African Seminar, Modern Latin American Seminar, and Systems Theory.

What is the Application Procedure?
